Feng Shui

I always tell feng shui clients: no bad luck is better than any good luck.

I have just returned to civilization from a week between 6500 and 9000 feet above sea level. Besides altitude sickness and two small children, there was very limited cellphone and internet service. Every blessing is a double-edged sword.

When I returned to the digital world, a call from my gardener snapped me back to reality. Apparently, when the cleaning lady closed the house on Monday, she left a knob on the stove top turned so that gas was leaking into the house. The gardener discovered it on Friday. Larger houses than mine have exploded in less time.

When landing at LAX, the landing gear of the plane down, the buildings of the city within arm's reach, the pilot suddenly accelerated and lifted the plane back up through the clouds. When we stabilized at 10,000 feet, the pilot announced on the intercom: another plane was in the wrong place and we came very close to it. Nobody was upset that we arrived late.

As you know from the feng shui workshops and this newsletter, death and disaster reside at the heart of the home for the year. The Chinese Year of the Snake is undulating its way through our lives, both good and bad luck pulsating around us. I am grateful to sidestep the bad luck. And embrace the coolness of April.
