Greetings!
This is a year of politics. Too much politics! Like a dog, everyone has an opinion. Everyone has misinformation. Everyone projects his own ideas onto politicians and political movements, for better or worse, richer or poorer, in sickness and health.
Here is me barking:
Like Confucius and “A Beautiful Mind”, I believe what serves the group as a whole, serves the person. When it comes to being a human being and an American, I believe what serves us all, serves me. This is not as common as you may think.
Often, people vote out of frustration and fear: I am not getting enough, I won’t have enough. Everyone is getting something I should get, something that should be mine.
And people vote from ignorance: I and mine can only survive if this happens. If that happens, we are doomed… This is how things are.
Hmmmmmmm...
I don’t care about taxes (the biggest issue in politics) or any of the me-me-me issues. I am a three issue person. And here they are:
Foreign Policy: NO WAR! Nothing. No war at all. America is at war in five countries right now. We should not be. War is a business we should not be in.
Domestic Policy: Equality. EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL! We believe we are a country of equal rights but that is an immense delusion. And we are slipping in the wrong direction. Discrimination is being made legal and celebrated.
Future Policy: Ecology. SAVE THE EARTH! America has a history of being Earth friendly but recently, once again, we are slipping quickly in the wrong direction. Federal and native lands are being lost, big business is legally destroying/polluting the planet.
Ask yourself: Does your life profit from war? Does our society profit from war? If we as a people do not profit from eternal war, vote for someone who will not be so hasty to drop bombs. There is no reason to kill other people.
Ask yourself: Is your life reduced by allowing the dignity of others? Is your life lessened by acknowledging the humanity of others? Vote for the person who will elevate society, not the person who will denigrate portions of society.
Ask yourself: Do you want your children to have a better life than you do? Do you want your children to have a life at all? As a species, what are we leaving the next generation? Vote for the person who will protect our home without reserve.
What have you done today to save the world?
That is my rant for today.
Come to my annual party (see last month’s newsletter). And try a little tenderness.
Thank you for your love and support.
